Salvation and Love of the Truth

Bernard Pyron

What does II Thessalonians 2: 10-11 say? "And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie"

A person may be saved according to John 3: 16 and Romans 10: 13.  But then when he goes into false doctrines he loses his salvation as implied by II Thessalonians 2: 10-11. Salvation can be lost, but the Holy Spirit may nudge a person who is about to lose his salvation and he responds in brokeness and asking for forgiveness and in this sense salvation can be a process. As time goes by the Holy Spirit may remind a Christian again and again that he or she is engaging in behavior that is sin, and/or that he or she is following a false doctrine.  Again, the person repents of sinful behavior and of following false doctrines.  Over time the Christian who has undergone this process has had the opportunity to learn not to engage in sinful behavior and has come to accept more and more truth.  In accepting more truth and in having a love of the truth the person is then far less likely to lose his salvation.

II John 1: 9-10 says "Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrineof Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
10.If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:"

Being in Christ means abiding in Christ's doctrines. You have to decide if dispensationalism is one of Christ's doctrines.

Christ warns in Luke 13: 25 "When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:"

Christ does not mean by "I know you not whence ye are" that he doesnot know this person where he is geographically, like what state helives in. He means he does not know him in his beliefs, in hisdoctrines.

The implication of the three part division of the Church in Zechariah 13: 8-9 and Ezekiel 5: 1-12 is that all three parts of the Church are under God's judgment for something. II Thessalonians 2:10-11 suggests its because the Church has not held on to the love ofthe truth and is being judged for that reason. While under judgment, even the one third of the Church which is to become saved can be considered to be unsaved. Before the one third who are to go through the fire and who call on the Lord do so they also are in false doctrines and are unsaved. But God loves them and is going to turn them around and make them his elect.
