When your busy life style limits the amount of time you will be able to spend exercising, research published in the journal Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise should keep you motivated to accomplish more for the reason that short period of time. Researchers recruited ten men aged 22 plus and had them spend a day inside a metabolic holding chamber in order to calculate how many calories they consumed.

During one day-long period, these individuals peddled stationary bikes for 45 min's each morning, seeking to maintain an average of 75% maximum capacity. The exercise session expended about 500 calories. But comparing that 24-hour period to a different where the subjects didn't exercise whatsoever, experts discovered that an additional 190 calories was expended over the 12 hours following exercise. That's tacking 40% on to the actual exercise session's net energy expenditure.
