2001/1/1 - Sigma APO 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG/HSM Experience
Posted in Unspecified
I bought this lens 30.3.2007. I didn't own any zoom lenses before that (only Canon 17-85). It was a very tough decision what zoom lens to by. The main choices were: Canon EF 70-200 F4 L USM Canon EF 75-300 IS F4-5.6 III Sigma APO 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG/HSM
I read all kinds of reviews of those lenses. Overall I think that all are good ones. It was still winter time and dark evenings. So I finally made the decision to go for the big aperature, and I bought the Sigma 70-200. I have not regret my choice since. It is a very good lens. Actually the picture quality is so good that this is my prime lens currently. I use it for nature, potrait and even landscape shots.
Things that I like:
- Very sharp (at least compared to my other lenses).
- Usable zooming range for different photos.
- Feel durable and acts reliable.
Things that I do not like:
- It is heavy (1.3 kg) and big. In long walks this starts to be annoying.
- 200mm is usually not enough for shooting animals. Ofcourse this is not this lens fault.
