Well, it has been a long holiday, we went to the western Cape to visit some friends and family, (well mostly friends and family because we had to).
I love the Cape, I love the wine route and so on, I won't lie to you, it is very hard to do with 2 young kids, you have to stop often and find a lot of things to keep them busy, but we managed.
The last time the wife and I went to Cape Town, (for a wedding a few years ago), we had so much fun together, we visited Boulders Beach before stopping on the side of the road to a small restaurant in Simons town. We also went to Cape point, (we actually walked up the hill).
We also spent a day driving around wine farms, we had no real plan, we just had an old wine book and we hopped from farm to farm, (most of the time we would only go in if the farm 'looked' nice). All those we can't really do with the kids anymore.
This time around we spent a lot more time by the beach, (both my kids seem to love the beach), of course we also went up Table mountain, I was worried the kids would be nervous, but as it turned out, the wife was the one I should have been worried about.
We did go to some restaurants as well as driving around Franschhoek, this area of South Africa is simply breath taking.
The traffic around Cape Town is madness, there are construction sites everywhere you look, the roads are busy all the time, this is simply crazy, you cannot drive anywhere without having a heart attack every 5 minutes and wanting to kill someone else every 7 minutes.
Thankfully I am not back at work until Monday, we still have to re-celebrate New-years and Christmas with our friends and family here in Durban, (well mostly friends and family because we have to :))
So happy New Year!, hope all your wishes come true and more!
