My heart goes out to you i"ve been there and yes it will hurt, there will be emotional pain, there will be tears, but in time the tears will dry the pain will fade, the hurt will dull, but the best part is that the memories of the good times you had with Shadow will remain as vivid as ever the love that you have for Shadow will be as strong as ever perhaps even stronger, and those two combined you can reflect and treasure in your heart all your life. Maybe if you have a scrapbook of shadow pictures etc it may help, it depends on the person, personal items toys, collar tags maybe a lock of hair etc, sweetheart I don't know if that will help you because different people react to grief and death in different ways. I just want you to know that I have experienced this situation and trying to convey words of comfort, and I do hope my words provide solice to you.
