8/19/2006 - Phantom Limbs

Most of you are probaly familler with the physchological use of the term Phantom Limbs, that is if a person loses an arm an a leg sometimes they will still feel pain, or an itch where the limb use to be. Well in magick there is a rather simillar concept, though instead of refering to limbs that have been lost it is focused more around additional appendages and instead of being arms or legs, it usually invloves wings, tails, possibly horns and so on.

There are two different types of phantom limbs in Magick, the first is subconcious, in which one will suddenly aquire the feeling of having an extra appendenge without any intention. Though it cannot be completely known why this happens, some possible reasons might be a sort of past life regression if one was in another life a particuarl type of animal which might have had the type of limbs which are being experinced. The other possible reascon could be some suconcious desire the person might have had for having such limbs and so unknowingly the sensation of the appendege is created.

The other type is knowingly and intentionaly created, phantom limbs tend to be made simply out of energy and thought they might feel like the real thing they have no baring within the physcial world nor are they visable to the naked eye, and can only be seen in visulization but phantom limbs are not alltogehter useless, they can be used upon the astral plane.
