Scrying is a rather difficult form of divination to master and can be done using a few different devices. The basic idea behind scrying is to see into future and things to come by the use of a reflective surface, genreally something like the ever so common crystal ball, or a body of water, but scrying can also be done using the smoke from a fire.

One of the things which makes scrying so difficult is that it requites a great deal of focus and concentration and a great deal of patience as well as the accute ability to empty out your mind and keep out any outside thoughts which might interupt the process.

When scrying gaze into the device you are using, be it crystal, water, smoke..etc... and focus on looking deeply into the surface while feeing the mind and opening it up to the visions. One of the tricks to it is (using water for an example here) you do not want to see the water for what it is or its physcial properties but you want to look beyond it and use it as a portal of sorts into another world, within the surface of the water you should see visions, images, or sometimes symbols which represent things which are yet to come.
