10/6/2006 - The Jaws of the Monster

Posted in Celtic Wisdom

Man-eating monsters often featured in Celtic manuscript illustration. They represented a graphic idea of hell. The sinner's entry into Hell was vividly described by the poet Tailesin: "I struck aginast a monster, finely scales, he had a hundred heads; under his tounge a battlion of men, another host of ment in his throat."

Our misdeeds can swallow us by removing us from charity and love. Ask yourself about any temptations you feel; perhaps pride, or laziness or excessive faultfinding. What steps can you take to steer clear of theses monsters? Create and action plan then carry it out.
