To give someone pins and needles

Light a white candle in a darkned room, gather up six needles and seven dress-makers pins. As you push each pin and neddle into the burning candle, say

Pins and needles your skin will prick

while the flame burns the candle wick

When the candle has burned through the pins and needles, snuff the candle out. Bury the pins and needles
