5/16/2007 - Dream Control

There are and have always been those that are gifited with the ablity to control and dictate thier own dreams, and this can be a useful skill and ablitiy to have. There are many reasons for one to have control over thier dreams, it can give one power over thier Nightmares, for there would be nothing left to fear if you knew you were in control of what happend and could change the course of the dream, as well it can give you a greater ablity to explore the dream realm so you can seek the answers you are truly after and understand your subconcious better, and ultimately it can also give you the ablity to reach out to others through your dreams, if you need to send another a message or to visit another.

I have recently been exprimentning with a new technique to try and gain the skill of mastery over my own dreams.

First thing you should do for this technique is to create a place for yourself in your mind. A special place, I like to call it a Dream Garden, make this place look however you wish it to look imagine whatever setting would be like a Paradise to you. Place thier what you want, think of it as a sort of safe place where you have complete control and where only you can go, your own personal Eden. Think of what you want to be within this place, thier are no limitations but that of your own imgination. Be as detailed as possible imagining the climate, time of day, if there is any other life, animals, what sort of sounds and perhaps even scents might be there. Is it in the mountains, or perhaps upon the beach, by fresh water, is it truly a garden, or perhaps the desert, and so forth.

Once you have established your place, as you get ready to go to bed, and close your eyes visulize yourself within your place, see yourself in the center of it, surrounded by it, feel it wrapped around you and feel at one with it, and hold onto that image. As you start to drift off to sleep whenever you feel your mind or thoughts start to drift away to something else, as soon as you become aware of it, quickly put yourself back into your place and surround yourself within it once more and presistantly keep doing this every time your mind wavers until the moment you do fall asleep.

The idea is to get to the point that eventually when you do fall asleep you will in your dreams be within your place and be able to dictate what happens and go where you want to go, and eventurally be able to change the setting and move freely and conciously within the dream realm. You can also use this as a safe place if you do have nightmatres you can take yourself back to your place where nothing else can entrude if you do not let it.

Though it is imporant to be patitent and to practice with this technique on a regular bais you are not going to gain complete control of your dreams just by doing this for a night or two, it is something that must be developed, so if you do try it and it does not imideately work do not let the distract you but keep up with it to prefect the skill.
