5/24/2007 - Sun Ritual

Though I have always been more of a moon person, the importance and power of the sun should not be forgotten or neglected. The Sun and the Moon represent dulaity, the God and the Goddess, and the nessciary balance for one cannot exsisit without the other, and life could not be without both. In many myths the Sun and the Moon are seen as being oppisite and yet untied. In some cases they are man and wife, in others they are brother and sister. Though in some myths they are portrayed as rivals, one endlessly chasing the other. The sun was held in reverence by many cultures, and the Druids are beleived to have had a special ritual for welcoming the Sun each morning.

Here is a ritual you can preform to embrace the Sun and take in its power.

Go outdoors and greet the sunrise by streaching tall and wide. Take three deep breaths, inhaling the light and power of the Sun and exhaling them back out into the world. Realize that as the Sun is the center of our solar system and all of the planets reflect its light, so you are the center of your world, and all others around you will respond to your light. Resolve to shine brightly on this day and say "Hail! I greet thee, radiant Sun, pour forth thy light on me. I will shine with peace and love toward everyone I see! (If the day is cloudy you can always visualize the Sun knowing that the light is within)
