6/29/2007 - Horns
There is a long history of the Horn as being a powerful symbol of fertility, and in this, many horned animals are also seen as been associated with fertility, as the most common animals that are associated with fertility, are honred.
The Bull, the goat, the stag, the ram
These are all animals that are used to symbolize and represent fertility. Gods that are arribtuted and associated with fertility are often dipicted with horns/antlers as well. This has crossed over into Christianty, in which the Devil is often attributed with horns, though the Devil is not per sae a fertility symbol he does represent what is caranl in us, and one of those so called sins is Lust.
The it might seem a bit strange that something that is so inherently masculine, as it is nearly always in most species the male whom is gifted with the horns, has been given such a strong connection to femmine power, and a link to the Goddess and a woman's birth rites.
One of the possible reasons for this, is in the fact that the power of physical strength and repodutive potency of horned animals were of importance to the economy in both ancient hunting and argiculture socities, and horns were a tool often used to plow this earth, and this was seen as a symbolic impregnation of ther Earth, and so it was thought the horn was charged with sexual power, also there is the added fact of the phallic shape of the horn

6/28/2007 - Spiral
The spiral is a symbol that is nearly as old as man himself, it has been found acorss the globe and has been employled by nuermous cultures, some of its earliest sightings date back to etchings on caves thousands of years ago, and it is still in active use today by many.
It has many possible representations and symbolizes a varity of things, today it is commonly seen as being associated with the goddess, the womb, fertility, feminine serpent force, continual change, and the evolution of the universe.
It is also seen as representing the universal pattern of growth and evolution as the pattern of the spiral appears again and again in the natural world, from the milky way galexy to the shell of a snail.
In the Hopi tradition the spiral represents the number of journeys or treks a tribe or nation has made to the four corners of the earth. Engraved on stones, the spiral suggests an intricate journey made to the Otherworlds on back. Generally, the spiral represents a broadening of consciousness, which is the destination arrived after a long journey.
The meaning of the spiral in Celtic tradition is not altogether known, but it is suggested to have represented the travel from the inner life to the outer soul or higher spirit forms; the concept of growth, expansion, and cosmic energy, depending on the culture in which it is used. To the ancient inhabitants of Ireland, the spiral was used to represent their sun
In the Celtic tradition there are also several varritions of the sprial which hold thier own meanings, such as the double spiral and tripple spiral and there are different forms of these spirals and of the single spiral as well.

6/18/2007 - Solar Cross
The solar cross also knonw as the equal armed cross is probably the most ancient spiritual symbol in the world, appearing in Asian, American, European, and Indian religious art from the dawn of history. Composed of a equal armed cross within a circle, it represents the solar calendar- the movements of the sun, marked by the solstices. Sometimes the equinoxes are marked as well, giving an eight armed wheel.
The cross in its most simplified form is known in Northern Europe as Odin's cross, after the Chief God of the Norse pantheon. It is often used as an emblem by Asatruar, followers of the Norse religion.
The solar cross was is the precursor of the modern Celtic Cross that is now used by the Celtic Christain Chruch, and was borrowed from the Celtic Pagan emblem of the God Taranis
Celtic Cross
Wheel of Taranis
Other simillar symbols that use varriations of the solar cross enclude:
the symbol of the ancient Assyrian God Shamash
The Lauburu (four heads), a traditional Basque emblem, is also a form of solar cross
The Etruscan God Ixion was often depicted crucified on a solar wheel
and the Aztec solar deity Quetzalcoatl, depicted crucified on an equal armed cross.
The solar corss symbolizes the Sun and the four directions. Its energy is active, kinetic and vibrant, yet peacefully balanced. In Pagan and Druid symbology it is often used to represent the masculine God-force.

Many of us recogonize and identify this symbol as the Star of David and assoicate it with Judaism. But this like so many other symbols carries more then one meaning and has been used by more then just one culture/beleif. This symbol to Pagans is known as the Hexagram and is put into use during varrious rituals.
The two interlocking triangles which make it up represent the balance between masculine and feminine. The upward pointing triangle represents man and the downward pointing triangle represents woman. Additionally the upward pointing triangle represtns "above" and the element of fire, and the downward pointing triangle represents "below" and the element of water.

A hexagram in a ciricle is a symbole of protection against negitive energies and entites, or magick which might be cast against you.

Before I had posted a little bit about numerology, well beyond the beleif in thier use to try and foresee the future, numbers can act as powerful symbols. Here is a list of numbers that have a special or devine power and meaning attached to them.
3: The number of dinity; for Pagans it was the number represenitive of the tripple Goddess (The Maiden, The Mother, and The Crone) and then it became the Holy Trinity (The Father, The Son, and the Holy Ghost) Also it can be seen as the three stages (Birth, Death, and Rebirth)
4: The number of the Earth; The four elements (Earth, Water, Fire, Air) the four seasons (Summer, Winter, Spring, Fall), and the four corrners of the earth, also called the four winds (East, West, North, South)
7: this is a classical lucky number, it is seen as the number of All, for it is the combination of the Divinity, and the Earth. It is everything; completion.
1: the number indivulaty or unity. It can stand alone, or it can be all together.
