| With the evolution of technology, karaoke has been brought to the homes of almost every individual. The first real technological advancement that happened in karaoke is the development of home karaoke sets which meant that you could sing at home whenever you wanted. There are karaoke tapes which has been made available to the public. These tapes are played in any cassette player, and plays either with or without vocals. The tapes also come with books that consist of the lyrics of the songs which are pre-recorded in the tape.
Unfortunately, because of the set up of the Japanese neighborhood, karaoke sets have been a problem. Japanese houses are built so close together that the sound in each house reaches the other house. At the brighter side, the Karaoke Box has been developed. Entrepreneurs grabbed the opportunity that the sound problem posed, and created soundproof Karaoke Boxes. Initially, these Karaoke Boxes are converted freight cars with closed-door insulated rooms that are soundproof. These are marketed as a venue where people can sing so loudly without creating inconvenience for other people. The first karaoke box appeared in 1984 in a rice field in the countryside of Okayama Prefecture, just west of the Kansai area. Sooner, Karaoke Boxes became popular and were put up wherever there was space in both rural and urban areas.
