Exploring the I in 'I am'

My daughter sits next to me (10/15/2005)

Posted in Poems

Three inches long her feet
Short cropped her hair
Beautiful her voice

My daughter sits next to me

"Annu doesn't know who made him"
"I told him it was God"
"She's just a baby"
My daughter rings the small bell that fell from the Pooja room door

"I'm big so I know"
"Big kids know"
Her hands wrap around my arm
My daughter smiles at me

"I used to be a baby like Annu"
"I can tell Annu about everything"
"Just like you tell me"
My daughter puts the bell in my pocket

Three miles wide her heart
Short lived her anger
Beautiful her spirit
My daughter sits next to me

Soul Craft is a place for my thought, arguments, stories, poems and epiphanies about what it means to be an I, a We and an Us.
