12/27/2009 - The Beginnings

Posted in Unspecified

Greetings,

Well, here is my assignment for my writer's group. I had to start a blog, a website, or something on the web. Yuck! To make it even worse, I have to keep it updated on a regular time schedule! How in all the stars above, am I going to do that? Do they not realize people have a lot to do and sometimes, there is just not enough time to keep a website updated. And, updated with what? I have no clue what to write each day to keep this blog interesting.

I decided to just go to my instructor/teacher, for needed ideas on what to write on this new adventure/assignment. That was a big mistake, because now.... he is going to check it daily! He wants me to write, just like I would write in my hand-written journals. Is he nuts! (I hope you are reading this, Mr. Henderson.) There are entries in our personal journals that are just "our" thoughts and no one will ever know about them, hopefully, untill the day we are no longer on this earth.

Worse yet, I am not to even consider miss-spelled words or the incorrect sentence structure. "Just write!" he bellowed, the last time I talked with him on the phone, which was this afternoon.

The interesting fact of all of this, is that I have known my teacher, Mr. Henderson and his wife for many years. They both knew, I would never go to the University where he teaches, because of the distance. It is over twelve thousand miles away. So, they encouraged me to register with their online University. Reasoning? I like to write! I have written two manuscripts and refussed to publish a third one, that Llewellyn Publishing wanted to put into print. Why would I ever turn such an offer down? Because I am insane! Not really, at least, I do not think I am insane. Not yet anyway. I just did not want the attention of it all. All of the obligations that go along with being published with Llewellyn, such as; book signings, interviews, and going to their endless "just for authors" meetings.

So, the final result of this hopeless situation is, I will "try" to go with an online journal, of some sorts.
