Positive attitude is necessary: Even though the majority of people are now overweight, modern society still looks down on fat people.

Since people hate being fat because of looks, why don't they do something about it. Complications in your health coming from carrying way too many pounds, is a major concern for the health community. No matter how much you way, there is no reason to have any negativity when setting goals for losing weight. Otherwise, you will be mired in negativity and that has not proven to be beneficial to anybody. Just to begin a weight loss program, is a positive move in the right direction, so put the goals down in a positive way. When you take the time to set goals, make sure they are reachable, otherwise you will probably defeat them with a negative attitude. Focusing on your progress will keep you positive. When you are on a weight loss program, you are cutting back on food, so instead of talking about what you are not eating, talk about what you are, instead. Exercise is a part of a weight loss program, so talk about how minutes of exercise you will be doing, rather than phrasing it in the negative, like you are not going to be a couch potato today. People have choices, and when they open their mouth, they can say something positive or something negative, but a positive word is better.

Energizing goals: These are simply the aims that you are most passionate about. Passion, heart and motivation go together, and when you have them your goals will be realized. You might think that it won't happen to you, but it will get tough. This is because weight loss demands both physical hard work and psychological determination that an ordinary human being will be unable to keep up at all times. Losing weight is a deeply personal thing, and what can be more personal than the desire to be happy, so what could be a better reason for losing weight. Weight loss is personal, so you need your own reason for losing weight. Lose weight because you want to, period.

Give yourself a reward: As you reach a mini-goal give yourself a reward of some kind. Human beings react to situations differently, but even as children, people crave positive reinforcement as a motivator. Some people are motivated by money, others by love, and still others by simply being appreciated, so there are many ways to be motivated. This is true with setting weight loss goals as well. When you first start, your aim should be on easily reachable goals. Something like losing 2 pounds, would be an achievable goal to aim for. As that goal is reach, give yourself a positive motivator as a reward, and move on to the next goal.
