8/26/2008 - backing a legacy

A leader can not lead without a following of those who believe in what he advocates. Jesus was an advocate and a deliverer for what many follow today but never challenge themselves to live. The twelve disciples that followed him were a common people of different backgrounds and most importantly beliefs. They believed more in the man Jesus but not his nature and what his business was. Repeatedly He told them that he wanted to be know as the Son of God, almost signifying that the nature of God is greater, not the man that is being used. His last hour he urged his disciples to pray, which instead they slept. This very much alike to what leaders who with respect Malcolm X and Martin Luther King were. We follow the leader, but not the message. We follow the task, but not the challenge. If the disciples were to pray, how much impact would it have had to the mission Jesus dedicated on the cross of calvary. In these times now in election I think it is important to know that we do not stand by a man, but his word. America has a history, like others not perfect although progressive. Who knew that a when a man came and would set foot on this land of hope, would soon lead to opportunity. Gods misterious nature is revealed in time. Why something begins we never understand until it is revealed or settled. I believe that is the path America has taken with the two candidates in 2008, one being an African American and the other the traditional American legacy. Even with the rise and prominance of a woman in this era of change, it has come to be what should be challenged and bridge gap of unity. So we should pray in honor for God to complete his new legacy in this country of what will be remembered as simply change. Coming together nationally is what it is about and then God will honor this nation. God is almighty and time and definition will change by Gods hand of grace.
