8/19/2016 - Some Ways to Make Planning a Party Easier
Posted in Unspecified

Whether you are planning an open house or maybe a holiday gathering for family and friends, you will need to do some serious planning if you want your party to look its best. Whether your party is small or large, formal of causal with some careful planning and consideration, you will be able to make party plans that are appropriate for your group to have a great time. If you have any questions about how to plan a party, remember that the very best type of party is one that allows you a chance to benefit from the party as well as having your guests enjoy it. You should start to plan your party about six days ahead of time to make sure that the last couple of hours before your visitors arrive are calm and stress-free so that you can be relaxed and ready to enjoy the party.

Get your guest list ready, choose the food you want to have and the drinks that you'll be serving and think about what kinds of music would be best for the occasion. When all of this is done you can then make shopping lists for all of the ingredients that you will need to prepare the meals and drinks that you will be serving. Next you should calculate what you’re going to need for plates and place settings, etc. Look for products that are non-perishable as far ahead as you possibly can and choose a menu that does not require a lot of last-minute preparation.

To calculate the quantity of party food you will need to serve, the general rule is the fact that each guest will consume 5 hors d'oeuvres each hour for that first 2 hrs and three each hour for every additional hour. So if you're planning for a 3-hour party for 10 visitors, you will have to provide roughly 130 snacks. When serving vegetable and fruit trays, figure amounts by permitting two "bites" per item per person each hour. Also, provide 4 small (cocktail) serviettes per person each hour (more if finger meals are particularly untidy).

Serving bite-size party meals that individuals can 'graze' over is a superb method to entertain. Your visitors can freely mix and mingle while munching on easy-to-eat finger meals. To prevent congestion in the buffet table, consider getting servers go through the area with trays of hors d'oeuvres. You may even facilitate the flow of visitors through the use of accent tables, book shelves, etc., as small food stations. (Be sure to safeguard furniture employed for serving with mats or linens.)
